DABBEL wins the 2020 NRW Energy Innovation Award!

2020 NRW Energy Innovation AwardDABBEL controls the energy system in buildings using AI technology, reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions up to 40%.

DABBEL has been awarded the 2020 NRW Energy Innovation Award for Companies (EnergieInnovationsPreis.NRW für Unternehmen 2020).

Awarded by EnergieAgentur.NRW, a company working on behalf of North Rhine-Westphalia to support and foster development in the state’s energy sector, the Energy Innovation Award is further proof of the innovative capacity of DABBEL technology and highlights the important contribution the company is making towards improving current building stock and operating buildings in a more energy-efficient and sustainable manner.

Real-World Examples

After two years of development, DABBEL’s software solution was tested as part of a pilot project in two office buildings at the Gelsenwasser AG headquarters. 

 

“Thanks to the AI solution, we were able to reduce our energy consumption and CO₂ emissions between 22 and 35% for both buildings. This fully conforms with our aspirations as an environmental company. We pursue climate goals with our own properties, but also with the range of services we offer our customers in the field of automation systems for buildings and energy systems,”

Pinkwart, Minister for Economic Affairs, awards DABBEL with the 2020 NRW Energy Innovation Award. 

On behalf of the Ministry for Economics Affairs, Digitization, Innovation and Energy, EnergieAgentur.NRW honors companies whose projects have proven to save energy are innovative and economical, and whose benefits can be passed on to other companies. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, patron for the Energy Innovation Award, honored DABBEL with the award in connection with the Gelsenwasser AG project.

The Future of Building Automation

The building sector is responsible for 40% of the EU’s energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. The declared political goal is to reduce these emissions by 67% (compared to 1990) by the year 2030. The efficient control of energy systems through AI-based technology can make a significant contribution in reaching this ambitious goal.

DABBEL Automation Intelligence GmbH in Dusseldorf developed the next generation of building automation that uses a predictive AI model and automatically adapts to the technical conditions of each respective building. DABBEL replaces the previously human-controlled energy system with software that can autonomously control energy systems within the building in real time. The result: A savings of up to 40% of the energy costs and CO₂ emissions. 

With this innovative approach, the DABBEL team has already won several international awards, including first place for the Proptech Innovation Award 2019 in Germany and three stages of funding from Climate-KIC, an EU funding program for sustainable solutions in the environmental sector. The company can now add the Energy Innovation Award to the list!
